Dear 21 year old me,
Continue to live your life to the full treating every day like a new beginning. Stay positive and try not to worry about the future so much and how it will affect you and your family. I know you have had to deal with a family member being ill at a young age, you will never lose that feeling of trying to fit everything into this life before it is too late. Try not to forget to live in the present, spend more time living and less time worrying and planning for the future. The future comes around very fast. Your path in life has a divine way of falling into place in ways that you could have never have imagined, everything happens for a reason and you will find that life works out just as it is meant to be.
You will experience challenges in life and come across people that are difficult and even down right nasty. Treat difficult situations as valuable life experiences that make you stronger. Learn to say no sooner and let go of individuals that try to drag you down. Just remember to do it in a kind way, as it is not always obvious the hardship that they face personally.
Continue to be honest, kind, independent, respecting yourself and others. Always listen to that inner voice, as it is seldom wrong about people or situations. Have trust in yourself and your abilities, you do not have to try so hard to prove yourself to others. You are good enough!
Don’t feel so worried about leaving family behind they will always be there for you, supporting and loving you no matter what. Just remember to enjoy every minute you have with them when you are together. It is not always easy to make every moment memorable but spend more time doing that and less time worrying and planning. Make a bucket list now, of the top 100 places and life experiences you want to have as it is amazing how times flies.
You have already met your soul mate and life will be full of wonderful gifts. Family really is everything and you are unbelievably lucky to have wonderful parents, a funny crazy sister who will always be your best friend and grandparents that show you every day how to love.
When life and work gets so busy that you no longer have time to look after yourself, don’t sacrifice your love of exercise. It is much harder to get back into shape and erase the damage caused by convenient eating choices. You deserve to have time each day that is dedicated to you and your health. I’ve just begun to realise that again, but always remember it is never too late. Taking that first step is the hardest.
Keep dreaming – just like the words in Happy Talk by Captain Sensible “You gotta have a dream, if you don’t have a dream, how you gonna have a dream come true?”
My final piece of advice is to remember what grandma always said; “what you give out – you get back in return”. Trust in that wise woman and live your life knowing that if you give out positive vibes you get back positive vibes; and the same goes for the negative ones. It may just help keep you on the right track.
PS you will never guess who is the President of America in 2018!
